How & Why Energised Oora Opals Work

What is Oora Opal?

In their natural state, as taken from the ground, the Oora Opal is a blend of light brown sandstone & opal flecks.

The opal bed is an ancient sea bed composed of solidified sand full of organic opalised fragments of shell.
Because the sandstone is so pale it's very hard to see the opalised flecks in it, even when wet.

To enable the opal to stand out the raw material is repeatedly super heated till the samdstone liquefies, and carbon is added to darken the background. This in no way compromises the energetic or material integrity of the sandstone or the opal in it. It's like steaming vegetables - it still has all it's nutritional qualities but it looks and tastes different and can't be made raw again.

The gemstone is then cut and polished.

The energy signature of this stone is light, embracing and loving.

Silica: It's all silica!

Sandstone is solidified sand. Sand is crystalline silica with shell grit. [Quartz is also crystalline silica.]

Shell grit is silica combined with protein: seashells are formed by silica mineralization via protein templating.
Silica as sea shells is biological in origin, produced by tiny organisms. The most significant ofthese are diatoms (plants) and radiolarians (animals), both of which extract silica from the water around them to form their structures or shells. For both organisms, silica is a nutrient they must have to survive. In nature, they use the dissolved silica that originates from sedimentary rocks atthe bottom of a lake, river, or ocean.

Opal is hydrated amorphous [non crystalline] silica in a lattice structure - and it is more water than silica. Silica is an element.

Opal forms by different methods in different places - either surface seepage with many cycles of drying and rehydrating, or by ancient [up to 75 million years old] deep crust "thick" water seeping up from the depths. The colour is created by light refraction off the structural lattice.

In opalised sandstone opal fills the pore space in sand-size sediments, cementing the grains to form deposits known as matrix or opalised sandstone. Oora opals are made of this material.

Opal can be either hydrated inorganic mineral silica or organic protein based silica [shells].

Raw opalised sandstone has the properties of crystalline mineral silica [sand - quartz is also silicon dioxide] and of  inorganic and organic amorphous silica as opal.

Properties of Opal

Opal, for whatever reason, resonates at the same frequency as the human heart - it vibrates love - it opens the heart chakra. This may account for the wonderful dream time story associated with it.  Peace came to warring tribes when the creator gods hid all the colours of the rainbow deep inside the earths so that the people could no longer able to see their different racial colourings. Silica

As is well known, silica is the material from which the memory chips in computers is made. Silica is capable of recording, transmitting, receiving and amplifying information. These qualities are present in Oora opals and seem to be magnified by the heat treatment that turns the brown sandstone black!

The Oora bio-pendant records any state of being where that state of being is not in resonance with your "true heart" or "Essential Self". It seems to create a space where you can detach enough from your reactive emotions to consciously see how you're travelling and choose to "correct" your perspective... it gives you the space you need to disentagle from your emotions and to realign with your True Nature!
